Get your kid started on a good note every day. Remember that the most important meal of the day is breakfast. A lot of kids tend to skip breakfast in a hurry to get ready and reach school. So first of all get them used to wake up a little early so that they have enough time and no rush. Get their day started with a balanced diet containing carbohydrates and protein.
Family meals are the best meals. So instead of serving the quick meals in front of the TV get your kids and the family into the habit of eating together over a dining table. With this, you will not only build the stronger family bond, eating will be more fun and hence healthier. Also, this way you will be able to keep a check on what your kids are eating.
Make your kids learn to eat slowly and chew every bite well. It takes at least 20 minutes for the brain to know that the stomach is full. This is why when you are hungry you tend to eat more than you need. With slow eating, the kids will eat just what is required. Overeating is detrimental to health.
