Many parents pay attention on children’s health, but they often forget that mental health is equally important! Because people are under stress every day, parenting is much harder. Many parents are responsible for traumas in their child’s life. Trauma can be any situation when something dangerous can happen to your children. It can be responsible for injury of children’s body and mind.
Traumas can be caused by many factors. Just some of them are: being involved in an accident (any kind of accident can cause trauma), some loved person is hurt, being involved in natural disaster, having a near death experience and being abused (any kind of abuse is responsible for the worst traumas on children). Traumas can be caused by other factors as well. So, parents’ divorce and ongoing bullying are the most common factors.
If your child suffers from trauma, he will: have problems sleeping, and having nightmares, cry a lot and be sad, sleep more than usual, cannot do any sort of physical activity and will be afraid all the time. Thinking all the time of that trauma, can cause Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). In that case, your child will have problems to get on with a normal life, so going to the therapists is mandatory. Other ways, how you can help your child is to make him feel comfortable. Buy him things he likes, play games with him, and call his friends, so they can play together. Remember, that in that period, your child is extremely sensitive, so even if you raise a voice on him, it can have catastrophic result!
