Many parents decide not to vaccinate their children. You can find many debates online, about vaccination. Some say that parent who don’t vaccinate their children should go to prison! Many infectious disease experts claim that this behavior of parents can be problematic for children! Pediatricians and infectious disease experts, are trying to convince parents to vaccinate their children, but without success.
On the other side, maybe parents are right. Many diseases like measles and whooping cough, are making a comeback! Last year 644 people were infected with measles, in the US. This is the highest number in last two decades! Almost 60 cases of those infections were connected to Disneyland. Some experts claim that next year will be even worse! In January there were several infections, so the CDC National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, is trying to convince people to vaccinate. The vaccination is especially important for children. According to CDS National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, the main reason why these diseases are spreading is abuse of a law, which allows parents to choose, should they vaccinate their child or no. Many parents are choosing not to vaccinate or to delay the shots. Reasons why parents do this can be religious or personal. Some parents even believe that vaccines are bad for children’s health. This is not true. Vaccines are made to protect children. For example, when a woman is pregnant, her body provides antibodies to the baby, after child birth this continues through mother’s milk. But when the mother stops breastfeeding her child, it is incapable of making antibodies on its own. So this is why the first vaccines are necessary! Regular vaccination is also very important!
